The State of Morelos and the Federal Government just succeeded in in putting a wildfire out that had been burning out of control. During dry season, folks burn vegetation just to clear it out, but sometimes it gets out of control. The wildfire was burning in steep and rocky areas (volcanic rock) that are accessible only by helicopter. When the State resources were brought to bear, the helicopters were ferrying inflatable bladders filled with water to drop on the fire. When the federal government brought in their equipment, they used these globes that must have been like the latest fire fighting agents I recall seeing on Facebook. They explode and spread a combination of fire fighting agents. The association I had, first, hearing the helicopters roaring overhead was from my Navy days aboard the supply ship, USS SAN DIEGO. When we were conducting Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP) of Sixth Fleet ships, in the Med, I would be quite used to hearing the helicopters roaring, continually overhead. The second association, seeing the helicopters flying out to the mountains was of the beginning sequence in the t.v.v show “MASH.”
