There are some facebook posts on our Mexpatlife.com FB page that I will recap and make some additional comments. The most recent is from Wittitdudes.com with the comment “I need a job where I work and hour a week and get paid a thousand dollars a minute.” It reminds me of friends, family and colleagues talking about their vision of retirement. Cutting costs, combined with some version of an idyllic weather and pace of life is featured with many of the articles for “International Living,” we have read, and this year this magazine is featuring Mexico, which is the number one destination for many North Amemricans….including Mexicans, themselves.
Another FB post, from Wittitudes is “I am dreaming of a White Christmas…but if the white runs out, I’ll drink the red.” Ths reminds me of one of the reasons we enjoy the Cuernavaca and Tepoztlan area, here in central Mexico. When it comes to socializing, we really enjoy the kinds of people we meet,, with their fascinating stories. At one of the Christmas parties we went to, I was chatting with one of our friends, Julie Lynn who went to Hollywood High School with Lana Turner, Judy Garland, and Anne Miller. Julie starred in some movies and live acts, including the Marx Brothers. She also was successful, afterwards, designing skirts….the most famous was the “Poodle Skirt”…the most often copied design in dress history.
